UGC –NET for December 2015 will be held on 27th Dec 2015. You can apply online through http://www.cbsenet.nic.in as per dates given below:

Eligibility Condition for appearing in the UGC NET is given below:

  • Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science &Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test.
  • The Other Backward Classes(OBC) belonging to non-creamy layer/Scheduled Caste(SC)/Scheduled Tribe(ST)/ persons with disability(PWD) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.
  • Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of Junior Research Fellowship/eligibility for Assistant professor only after they have passed their Master’s Degree examination OR equivalent with at least 55% marks(50% marks in case of OBC(Non- creamy layer)/SC/ST/PWD(persons with disability) category candidates. Such candidates must complete their P.G degree examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

 You are neither required to send any certificates/documents in support of your eligibility nor printout of their Application Form (Confirmation Page) to CBSE. You must check your eligibility for the test , if UGC detect any ineligibility at any stage , your candidature will be cancelled and UGC can take any legal action. For the Assistant Professor UGC NET there is age Limit.

Scheme for the UGC NET:

Paper 1 100 60 out of which 50 question to be attempted 1¼ Hours (09:30 A.M. to 10:45 A.M.)
Paper2 100 50 questions all are compulsory 1¼ Hours (11:15 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.) IST
Paper 3 150 75 questions all are compulsory 2½ Hours (02:00 P.M. to 04:30 P.M.)

Paper 1 which is on Teaching aptitude is compulsory for all the students. You have attempt 50 questions out of sixty questions. If you are appearing for the first time in UGC NET, then here you must note that you must attempt only 50 questions only, if you will attempt more than 50 questions then first 50 shall be examined and rest question marks will not be considered. So you must attempt those 50 questions in which you are confident. This is the point where first time attempt candidates do mistake.

Paper2 and paper3 will be from your subject specialization.

There is no negative marking for wrong answer, so you can attempt any question without any fear. You are not allowed to take wrist watch, mobile, ball pen (to be provided by Exam center) , electronic gadget etc.
